He completed his medical degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and gained broad clinical experience during his internship and subsequent work in General Surgery and Urology. He went on to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, obtaining his Fellowship of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa (FCOG) as well as a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

With extensive experience in obstetric and gynaecological care, Dr Joyisa has a particular interest in high-risk obstetrics, benign gynaecology, minimally invasive surgery, infertility and reproductive health. He also provides care for normal vaginal births, Caesarean deliveries and family planning.
